That sentence has been the school’s description for as long as it has had one, and it is worth reading carefully, because the important part is the last clause. Not "we offer classes in Spanish" — but classes in Spanish to obtain a California state licence. The Spanish is not the destination. The licence is.

Mothers fitting class between school drop-off and pick-up. Shift workers from the warehouses in Vernon and Commerce and the casino floors in Bell Gardens. Women who have been doing hair and nails for family for fifteen years and want the licence that turns it into a business.

And people who looked elsewhere first and found the classes were in English. One review on the academy’s Google listing puts it plainly: “I’ve seen several schools, but they’re in English, and I still don’t speak the language well.”

Spanish is the language of the room — lectures, demonstrations, the questions students ask, the corrections instructors give, and the exam review at the end. It is not an English class with a translated handout and it is not an instructor switching languages when someone looks lost.

Books are available in Spanish or English. The California written examination can be taken in either. Bilingual students regularly study theory in Spanish, request English textbooks, and sit the exam in English because they intend to work in English-speaking salons — building the technical vocabulary alongside the concepts rather than instead of them. Both routes produce the identical California licence.

This section exists because most beauty school websites are full of numbers nobody can verify, and we would rather be the school that says less and means it.

Our Google listing carries 177 reviews spanning roughly eight years, and they are not uniformly positive. Some students have had a genuinely difficult experience here and have said so publicly. We are not going to pretend those reviews do not exist or that they are all unfair.

What we would ask is that you read them the way you would read any school’s: look for patterns rather than isolated incidents, note what recurs across different students and different years, and then come and see the classrooms yourself before deciding. Both steps are worth doing before committing money to any school — ours included.

The recurring positive themes, in the students’ own words, are consistent: instruction in Spanish, instructors who take time to explain, and schedules that work around children. Several graduates describe going on to obtain a California licence and work as licensed manicurists and stylists.
