How the guides on this site are researched, drafted, reviewed and corrected — including where AI assistance is used and where a person has to sign off.

Why this page exists
Most of this website is not marketing copy. It is explanatory writing about California beauty licensing — how many training hours each licence requires, what the state written examination covers, what changed when Senate Bill 803 took effect, and what the process looks like for someone who studies in Spanish. People make expensive decisions on the strength of that kind of writing, so it is fair for you to know how it was produced and how to challenge it.
How the guides are produced
Articles and program pages on this site are researched against primary sources, drafted with the assistance of AI writing tools, and then reviewed and edited by a person before publication. Nothing is published straight from a generative model without that review step.
The review is where facts are checked against the source rather than against the draft. Where a draft asserted something the source did not support, the assertion was removed rather than softened — that is why several pages on this site say "call and ask" where a competitor publishes a number.
Where the licensing facts come from
Statements about training hours, examination content, application requirements and licence renewal are taken from the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology, the text of Senate Bill 803 (2021), and the examination candidate information bulletin published by the Board’s testing vendor.
Those requirements are set by the State of California and can change. We date what we can and link to the Board where it is useful, but this website is not the authority on your licence — the Board is. Verify current requirements with the Board before you apply.
What we do not publish
We do not publish a star rating, a graduation rate, a job-placement rate or an examination pass rate for this academy. Not because the numbers would be unflattering, but because we do not hold verified figures for them, and an invented or stale number is worse than none.
We do not publish tuition online for the same reason. We do not claim accreditations on this website. We do not attribute quotes, outcomes or anecdotes to students who did not say them.
Reviews and quotations
Student reviews reproduced on this site are quoted from the academy’s public Google Business listing, in the reviewer’s own words. Reviews written in Spanish are shown in Google’s translation and labelled as translated. The selection shown is not the complete set, and the full listing — including critical reviews — is linked directly.
Review text is not marked up as a rating in this site’s structured data. Google prohibits a business from publishing self-serving review markup about itself, and we follow that rule rather than testing it.
Dates and updates
Every article carries the date it was published. Where an article has been substantively revised after publication, the revision date is shown alongside it. We do not backdate articles to look older, and we do not refresh a date without changing the content underneath it.
Advertising and independence
Where this site carries third-party advertising, advertisements are labelled and served by the ad network, and no advertiser has any say in what the guides say. Editorial content is not written, reviewed, approved or paid for by an advertiser, and nothing on this site is a paid placement or an affiliate recommendation.
Corrections
If something on this site is wrong — a licensing requirement that has changed, a number that no longer holds, a quotation that misrepresents the person who wrote it — tell us and we will correct it. Corrections are made to the page itself rather than buried in a note elsewhere, and a substantive correction updates the article’s revision date.
